Success Stories

Mildred has lived in a nursing home for the past six months, following the death of her husband who was her caregiver.  Mildred has Alzheimer’s Disease and needs care.  Her daughter was in charge of Mildred’s money.  She was supposed to pay for her care at the nursing home.  Unfortunately, the daughter was using the money to pay for her own personal items.  She was not paying for Mildred’s care at the nursing home.  The facility staff contacted our office for help because they did not want to evict Mildred.  We were able to work with law enforcement to stop Mildred’s daughter from using the money.  Other family members are now taking care of Mildred’s bills.

Mary, a 93 year old female resident in a nursing home had been asking her family about her finances for several months. Her family refused to provide the information she wanted, and she was frustrated. She contacted the facility staff who then contacted our office. We were able to obtain her financial records and provide them to her. Her family had been doing an excellent job of managing her money, but they had not considered her right to information regarding her finances. We also helped the family and the resident work out a monthly system that will provide her with the information she wanted and keep it safe.
